I don’t know about you, but I love a bit of lipgloss to brighten up my look effortlessly. What I don’t love is how it wears off so quickly! This beautiful coral lip colour is from the Paul & Joe Beaute collection available here at Beauty Matters. A hybrid product, it is highly pigmented like a lipstick, easy to apply like a gloss and as longlasting as a stain. It is a non-sticky, long–lasting, high–shine lacquer, hooray! A real hero product!
We are delighted that our favourite butter LONDON products were such a hit at the VIP Style Awards this year. Claire Byrne wasn’t the only celeb opting for nail polish without the nasty chemicals! Mairead Farrell wore Jasper a bright pastel yellow which looked amazing paired with her summery bright dress, blinging jewellery and bright neon lip.
Mairead chose yellow as it is the colour of the season and she should know, being nominated for most stylish woman again this year! Unfortunately she didn’t win, but I think you will agree she looked absolutely stunning.
What do you think of her look? Is it something that you would wear? Are you a fan of yellow?
I have been getting Shellac nails done for the last year, but when my regular nail technician went on maternity leave, rather than get the Shellac done somewhere else I opted to painting my nails myself with my favourite butter LONDON polishes. I was a bit frustrated as my nails kept bending, chipping my nail varnish. My nails were completely thin and were snapping all the time. I am sure that this is something that anyone who has gotten gel nails will attest to! We have all had that post shellac nail dilemma. Where our nails are damaged and thin from not giving our nails that adequate break between sessions. Plus the removal process soaks the nails in acetone using damaging tools to strip the nails, which creates thin nails, leading to further irritation. Studies have shown the scraping procedure causes the nails to be up to 50% thinner.
There is a holy grail product though to reverse the damage done, so don’t dispair! I would like to introduce you to Butter London’s Horse Power Nail Fertilizer it is the ultimate repair product that will get you through that akward growing out faze when weak-nails break and bend. Horse Power uses a powerful herbal ingredient called horse tail, which will rebuild abused nails. In holistic medicine, horsetail is taken to treat osteoporosis and heal wounds, and it’s added to some shampoos to strengthen hair, so it makes sense that when applied topically to nails it increases strength and speeds up nail growth. The product is applied every day for 7 days, then removed and repeated for 4 weeks until nails are healthy again. You apply one coat every day for 7 days, then remove and begin again. Use for one month. Horse Power Nail Fertilizer can be used as both a basecoat & topcoat.
I am going to be using it for the next couple of weeks to ensure that my nails get back to normal. Definitely not going to go back to the gel nails now! You should get your hands on this magic potion too and let me know how you get on.
Hope you are keeping well! So the glamourous VIP Style Awards were on Friday and we were all dying to see the what the Irish glitteratti had to show. Beauty Matters had the inside scoop on what two of the uber stylish ladies would be wearing, on their nails at least!
One such style icon and uber talented television starlet was the gorgeous Claire Byrne. We caught up with her stylist Gemma Sherlock, to discuss her look and see how we could help in the Nail Department! In Gemma’s initial discussions with Claire, it was evident that she not only wanted to look good on the night, but she wanted to try something different too. Instead of opting for the bog standard full length dress, she upped her style credentials by choosing a midnight blue Louise Rawlins skirt.
The look paid hommage to Sharon Stone’s infamous red carpet look at the 1998 Oscars. The white shirt was a brilliant yet stark contrast to the satin skirt and was paired with brightly coloured shoes and accessories. The shoes are from L.K. Bennett, a bright suede canary yellow. The jewellery was vintage green stone and jewel drop earrings and a stunning Miriam Haskell vintage bracelet all from Rhinestones. Clutch is by Anya Hindmarch and it’s the Valorie in black and navy multi glitter which worked really well with the texture of the nails. The make-up and nails were kept fresh, nude and minimalistic to not fight with the styling.
Claire was one of six nominated for best dressed on the night!
What do you think of her look?
We are delighted to announce the arrival of the spectacularly beautiful make-up range from Paul and Joe. These gorgeous luxuriouse beauty products are sure to delight! Almost too pretty to use these products are sure to become collectables.

Hope that the chilly weather isn’t puting a dampner on your easter! If you think it is bad down here, you should see how bad it is up North! We braved the snow and ice to head to Belfast Fashion Week to ensure that the models for the catwalks had perfected talons that matched the styling of the Spring/Summer shows.
Belfast Fashion Week is one of the biggest fashion events on this Island! It is a chance for fresh, contemporary fashion designers to showcase their talent along with established brands and designers.
butter LONDON is a well established fashion brand and can be seen backstage at London and New York Fashion Week. We thought that it was the perfect fit for Belfast Fashion Week and so this year we decided to partner with them. So myself and the uber talented Sarah Jane Lanagan teamed up to represent Beauty Matters with our butter LONDON nail art.
When deciding on the designs for the nails, it is imperetive to liase with the stylists, hair and makeup artists. It is of utmost importance that everything works together, to showcase the designer’s vision perfectly. There were two distinct trends on the first day. Pastel and sherberty coloured clothing were teamed with monochrome eye makeup and pastel lips.
